Grant obtained for the creation of a high interest, low-readability fiction and non-fiction library for students with special needs. The grant provided approximately fifty students with leveled readers to support independent reading both in the classroom and at home.


2005 Martha Holden Jennings Foundation
SMART Grant $3000.00


Grant obtained for the purchase of a SMARTBoard to encourage and improve collaborative learning opportunities in seventh grade Social Studies. Use of technology-driven learning resulted in a 45% improvement in overall student performance and knowledge, as determined through both formal and informal assessments, including projects and electronic portfolios.


2006 Martha Holden Jennings Foundation
READERS Grant $3000.00

Grant obtained for the purchase of a SMARTBoard to support differentiated and instruction through a variety of learning modalities. Students actively participated in the writing process, by manipulating, editing, and revising, basic sentence structure, paragraphs and essays. Student-created book reports and presentations helped students learn to create and deliver effective reports.

FOIL Grant $3000.00

Grant obtained for the purchase of a SMARTBoard to support interactive and student-directed learning
of both Algebra and Geometry concepts in the Special Education classroom.
